You can always remember something you shouldn’t have done, a word you shouldn’t have say, somewhere you shouldn’t have gone. You happen to be the wrong man at the wrong place. It wasn’t on purpose, you never meant to harm anyone, but actually you did and you must confess that your good faith can sounds dubious. Either people trust you, or they don’t, you have no proof to vindicate yourself. The ones who don’t are these who assume they’ve always been beyond reproach, which is all the more dubious. The others are your friends.
If I know you and if there’s a word or a behaviour I had never forgiven you, please, be aware that I’ve just done it, even if you had no idea that I was so rancorous. The pointlessness of this burden abashed me.
